Established in 1990, Bombay Restaurant has developed an exceptional reputation in the local area as a premier dining venue for authentic Indian cuisine. Feedback from our diners attributes our success to exceptional taste, quality of food, and high standards of customer service.
Our Restaurant is family run, built on a long-standing partnership between three friends, including the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager. All three partners have previously worked and gained experience at other successful Indian Restaurants and between them, they have accumulated over 110 years of experience in the retail catering business.
Bombay is the largest Indian restaurant in Grays with capacity for up to one hundred diners. Our Restaurant is able to cater for every occasion, from romantic dinners, family meals, to celebratory functions. Being the largest Indian restaurant in Grays, we are able to host parties for large groups of guests with ease.
Our Restaurant has a stunning interior with stylish décor. The lighting and water features within the venue creates a pleasant and relaxing ambience. Guests will immediately notice the fusion in style between the Restaurant’s Western features and Eastern character.
Since its establishment in 1990, our restaurant has only ever had one Head Chef at the helm. This has meant that our Restaurant is able to deliver the same exceptional food to diners today as it did over 20 years ago when it began its journey.
Our Head Chef, Nazim Uddin, has over 35 years of experience in the catering industry. He has visited the Indian continent on numerous occasions and has brought back new ideas each time. Even today, he continues to tweak his signature dishes to deliver the most authentic Indian cuisine.
In addition to the well known ‘Classic Dishes’ and ‘All Time Favourites’, our menu provides diners with an extensive choice, including unique dishes exclusive to Bombay. Our ‘Bombay’s Finest’ range offers the best flavours as recommended by our long-serving Head Chef, and dishes in our Chef’s Choices’ range have been carefully crafted to ensure that our Restaurant continues to stand out in terms of taste and creativity.
Try our Sukha Bengali Murgh - to create this exclusive ‘Bombay’s Finest’ dish we grill chicken marinated in garlic and ginger and combine this with a dry sauce to create a unique and truly memorable flavour. Or maybe indulge in our Chicken Shahjahani, in which Nazim uses his years of experience to draw out the distinct flavours from the Bangladeshi citrus fruit in a dish cooked with shredded marinated chicken.
Fish lovers should try dishes from our ‘Bay of Bengal’ range, which include fishes, such as Salmon, Sea Bass and Pomfret. We highly recommend the Sarisha Machhi from this range in which a fillet of Sea Bass is pan fried and cooked in a rich mustard seed sauce.
All our dishes are freshly prepared using the finest and freshest ingredients, and authentic ground spices. Many of our most flavoursome and aromatic dishes are prepared using a slow cooking method to ensure intensity of flavour and the most delicious taste for you to remember.
To complement your meal our restaurant has a good choice of beverages and an attractive wine list which includes fine wines from across the globe.
Our Front of House Team is led by Restaurant Manager, Mahbub Rahman. Mahbub is well known to all our regular customers for his friendly personality and strong commitment to exceptional hospitality. Mahbub has been working front of house for over 35 years, and has been leading the team at Bombay from its inception.
